MICHAELA LAUTENSCHLAGER (REGENSBURG): AUSSCHLAGGEBEND II
The installation "ausschlaggebend" makes data from the well-known platform Twitter tangible and relates it to environmental data of the city of Augsburg by making it audiovisually tangible. The old thermograph is manipulated in such a way that the needle strikes out when tweets with the term "Augsburg" are published or measured values change. Each time, the colored chalk on the thermograph needle leaves a trace on the measuring paper. This creates a live transformation of city-related data into a sonified or visualized experience. Data that can normally only be accessed by opening special apps and read digitally is brought into the physical world and "on paper" through the work. The digital traces now leave behind analog ones.
Die Installation „ausschlaggebend“ macht Daten der bekannten Plattform Twitter greifbar und stellt sie in Zusammenhang mit Umweltdaten der Stadt Augsburg, indem sie sie audiovisuell erlebbar macht. Der alte Thermograph ist so manipuliert, dass die Nadel ausschlägt, wenn Tweets mit dem Begriff „Augsburg“ veröffentlicht werden bzw. sich Messwerte ändern. Jedes Mal hinterlässt die farbige Kreide an der Thermographennadel eine Spur auf dem Messpapier. Damit entsteht live eine Transformation stadtbezogener Daten in ein sonifiziertes bzw. visualisiertes Erlebnis. Daten, die normalerweise nur durch das Öffnen spezieller Apps zu erreichen und digital auszulesen sind, werden durch die Arbeit in die physische Welt und „auf Papier“ gebracht. Die digitalen Spuren hinterlassen nun analoge.
