STEFAN TIEFENGRABER (LINZ, AT): Bei seinem Konzert erzeugt Stefan Tiefengraber Bilder und Klänge durch Kurzschlüsse: Er hält dafür seine befeuchteten Finger an die Platinen unterschiedlicher Elektro-Geräte. Durch den Widerstand der Haut und ihre Leitfähigkeit entstehen an den Platinen Geräusche und Töne. Namensgebend ist das »Jing«, ein koreanisches Perkussions-Instrument, das den Takt der Performance angibt. So entwickelt sich ein atemberaubender Klang-Teppich in Schwarzweiß: Alle Klänge werden live mit Monitoren und Projektion visualisiert.

For this noise performance, sound and video is generated through short circuits produced with wet fingers on opened devices and additionally the short circuits of a modified solenoid hitting a jing (korean percussion instrument). The skin’s resistance and the conductance of the human body combined with the components of the circuits are modifying the sound. Unexpected and uncontrollable analogue signals are altered and bent by the artist to an audio/video noisescape.
