BACK ONCE - AND FORTH AGAIN
The historic machine house, situated at the Gaswerk area in Augsburg, is the protagonist of lab 30’s gala concert to celebrate the 20ieth edition of the festival. It is the setting for a creative gathering of six “local heroes”: Sound artists Markus Mehr and Tom Simonetti meet SAFARI, a percussion ensemble that unites four very individual drummers – Joachim Holzhauser, Harald Alt, Sebastian Hausl and Stefan Brodte.

This get-together of six musicians who work as a team for the first time, promises an artistic examination of the venue: Machines from the past transform into instruments of today, the sounds of the room encounter those of mallets, rhythm mingles with sonic surfaces.

„EINMAL ZURÜCK UND WIEDER NACH VORNE“ lautet der Titel des Fest-Konzerts im Apparatehaus. Mit seinen Maschinen und dem Geruch der Vergangenheit wird es zum Schauplatz einer mehrteiligen Komposition. Markus Mehr und Tom Simonetti treffen hier auf das Schlagwerker-Quartett SAFARI. Erstmals arbeiten diese unterschiedlichen Augsburger zusammen. Elektronisch erzeugte Klänge korrespondieren mit einem vielfältigen Instrumentarium, das auch die Maschinen im Apparatehaus mit einbezieht und zu Percussion-Instrumenten umfunktionieren wird.
